Investments Overview
An important step in retirement planning is choosing which options to invest in. Each investor has different and unique retirement goals, so there is no set strategy that works for everyone.
The Nebraska Pediatric Practice, Inc. 403(b) Plan gives you the freedom to choose from a variety of investments with different risk profiles and investment objectives. You can build a portfolio from the Plan’s broad menu of investment options from some of the nation’s well-known portfolio managers, plus a separate fixed interest investment option.
The 403(b) Plan also offers target date investments. Each target date investment is a “fund of funds” that contain underlying investments designed for investors who prefer to have investment professionals take care of the ongoing work of monitoring and adjusting allocations for you.
To choose a target date investment, determine your expected retirement year (based on your date of birth or when you plan to retire) and find the fund whose name most closely aligns with that retirement year. Based on your anticipated date of retirement, each target date investment is reallocated over time to take on less risk and become more conservative as you approach retirement.
The target date is the approximate date when investors plan to retire. The asset allocation of the target-date funds will become more conservative as the target date approaches by lessening the equity exposure and increasing the exposure in fixed income type investments. The asset allocation of the target date funds will become static 10 years after the target date. The principal value of an investment in a target-date fund is not guaranteed at any time, including the target date. There is no guarantee that the fund will provide adequate retirement income. A target-date fund should not be selected based solely on age or retirement date. Participants should carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of any Fund before investing. Funds are not a guaranteed investment and the stated asset allocation may be subject to change. You can lose money by investing in securities, including losses near and following retirement.
You should consider the investment objectives, risks, and charges and expenses of the investment options offered through a retirement plan, carefully before investing. The fund prospectuses and information booklet containing this and other information can be obtained by contacting your local representative. Please read the information carefully before investing.
