Contributing to the Plan

Contributing to the Plan

You are eligible to start contributing to the 403(b) Plan as soon as you’re hired. You are also immediately eligible to begin receiving the organization discretionary non-elective contributions to your account. Non-resident alien members, though, are excluded from participation.

You have the opportunity to save on a pre-tax basis, a Roth after-tax basis, or a combination of both sources. If you are eligible to contribute to other qualified retirement plans like a 401(k), the IRS establishes an annual contribution limit on the total amount that can be saved for retirement.

Participants who age 50-59 or 64 and older by the end of the calendar year can contribute an additional amount called a catch-up contribution. Participants who are age 60-63 by the end of the year can contribute even more through different catch-up contribution provision. Visit the IRS Limits page to confirm your current maximum contribution limit for the Plan.

You may contribute between 1% to 100% of your compensation per pay period (in 1% or $1 increments) up to the annual IRS limit. No matter if you contribute on a pre-tax basis, Roth after-tax basis or any combination of both, the combined cannot exceed 100% of your compensation per pay period.

We save for you too

Organization contributions are made the first of each month immediately following completion of the eligibility requirements.

  • Fixed non-elective contributions equal to 12% of your compensation per plan year will be made by the organization.
  • The contributions will be made to your account on a pre-tax basis and will be subject to taxation upon withdrawal.

You are always 100% vested in, or entitled to, your 403(b) Plan contributions, rollover contributions, non-elective contributions and investment earnings from those contributions.
